Banana Split Cupcakes, Elvis Style

One thing my whole extended family can agree on: these cupcakes rock! If you have not done so already, go buy Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. We celebrated my nephew and brother in law's birthday today with these. Huzzah for cupcakes!

Impressive! Not only do they look good, but I think I could convince my non-vegan dad to eat these bad boys! Nice job.

Wow, your photograph of the cupcake is beautiful! No wonder I found it on Taste Spotting. Is there anything special to the recipe or is it a banana nut cupcake with whipped cream, nuts, syrup, and a cherry on top?

My husband bought me VCTOW this weekend... I told him to pick a cupcake out of it for me to make and this is the EXACT one he picked!!!!!

Received that book for Christmas and it is directly responsible for a solid 6 lb. gain and countless dollars frittered away on cupcake accoutrements.

The King would be proud, your wee cakes look fab.

Carla,
It is a banana cupcake with buttercream frosting, chocolate ganache, and a cherry. The buttercream frosting is supposed to be made with margarine and vegetable shortening, but we had no shortening so I made it with just the maragarine. It made the icing a little softer and a little creamier (and a little messier), but in that sense was more like whipped cream than frosting. I think I actually preferred it that way for this recipe.
